Renewed appointment, new responsibilities for London West MP Kate Young
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau today announced changes to the parliamentary secretaries.
Kate Young, Member of Parliament for London West, has been appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Science and Sport and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Services and Procurement and Accessibility (Accessibility).
Prior to this morning’s announcement, MP Young served as Parliamentary Secretary for Science. She was first elected to represent the constituency of London West in 2015, and subsequently appointed by the Prime Minister to serve as Parliamentary Secretary for Transport. She served in this role until she was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Science in January 2017.
The full list of today’s Parliamentary Secretary appointments and changes is available on the Prime Minister’s website at www.pm.gc.ca .
“I am honoured to have been asked by the Prime Minister to expand my role by assisting Minister Kirsty Duncan in both the portfolios of Science and Sport, as well as working with Minister Carla Qualtrough with Accessibility issues. Making sure our communities are accessible for people of all abilities has been a passion of mine for many years – and it’s what encouraged me to become a founding member of the ‘Ability First Coalition’ here in London.
I am looking forward to supporting both the Minister of Science and Sport and the Minister of Public Services and Procurement and Accessibility to deliver real results for Canadians, and help the Government continue to grow the economy and strengthen the middle class.” – Kate Young M.P.
